Al Hilal manager Florent Ibenge salutf his team's spirit and togetherness after they sensationally defeated Tunisian giants Esperance 3-1 in the Caf Champions League on Friday.

First-half goals helped the Sudanese club stun the Tunisians on 'home' soil in Dar Es Salaam to continue an unpredictable start in Group C.

The result came just a week after Hilal began their campaign with defeat against Angolan club Petro Atletico.

But they rebounded in spectacular style, leaving coach Ibenge to hail a memorable giant-killing performance in his post-match comments.

"We were the underdogs but came with a different strategy, pinning Esperance early and getting important goals that lifted us," stated the delighted tactician.

Ibenge also praised his committed players for closely following instructions and working tirelessly as a cohesive unit.

"I thank all my players for their superb teamwork and efficiency as they did everything asked of them," he added.

The vocal backing of Tanzanian spectators in Dar Es Salaam further inspired the spirited Sudanese club on their remarkable night.

"I also want to thank the Tanzania fans whose support really motivated us to feel at home," continued Ibenge.

Entering the game as Group C outsiders, Al Hilal demonstrated immense heart to topple renowned giants Esperance in stirring fashion.

The shock result blows the section wide open with all four clubs to be locked on three points if Etoile du Sahel win their home clash with Petro Atletico on Saturday ahead of Matchday Three.

But for now, coach Ibenge can revel in his unfancied troops playing like family to pull off an unforgettable Champions League boilover.
