Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has admitted that the Manyatta Youth Resources Center (MYRC) has captured his heart owing to its good work.

The Kisumu-based youth center seeks to nurture sports talent and empower the youth socio-economically.

"Truly humbled to visit and support the Manyatta Youth Resource Center (MYRC) at the heart of Kondele, as well as Obwolo community ground in Kajulu, both in Kisumu city," Ababu posted on his X platform.

"MYRC is a unique community effort that has discovered rising stars Benson Omalla of Gor Mahia and Luis Ingavi who is currently starring for the Junior Harambee Stars.

"We will elevate MYRC to a satellite academy of the Kenya Academy of Sports and upgrade the Obwolo grounds to better serve the many local teams that use the field."

The center has a number of testimonials and success stories that have sprouted since its inception in 2009.

Omalla, the Gor Mahia talisman, finished last season as the runners-up top scorer behind eventual winner Elvis Rupia in what was a breakthrough season for the hawk-eyed striker.

The 22-year-old previously played for Western Stima. He opened his Harambee Stars account, scoring the fourth goal in the 5-0 rout of the Seychelles in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup last week.

The CS, in acknowledging resource limitations affecting MYRC, donated Sh100,000 atop other goodies.

Further, he reassured them of Talanta Hela's support and adoption of the centre as a key partner going forward.
