Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania have won the rights to host the 2027 Africa Cup of nations. The announcement to have the three East African neighbours organise the continents premier football showpiece was made in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday following a CAF Exco meeting which also gave Morocco the rights to stage the 2025 finals.

The Pamoja Bid will see East Africa host the tournament for the first time. Kenya failed to host the 1996 finals due to lack of infrastructure despite winning the hosting rights. They were replaced by South Africa, who went on to win the tournament.

Regionally, it will be the fifth time the tournament visits Cecafa block after Sudan hosted the inaugural finals in 1957 and again in 1970 while Ethiopia have staged the tournament thrice; 1962, 1968 and 1976.
