Libya held Equatorial Guinea to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday during the AFCON 2024 qualifiers at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.

The hosts trailed for 18 minutes after Jose Elo gave Equatorial Guinea the lead in the 62nd minute.

Husain Taqtaq would later salvage a point for the Mediterranean Knights in the 80th minute following an assist from Naureddine Al Gleib.

Equatorial Guinea has already qualified top Group J with 13 points after six games, while Libya trial the group with four points.

Tunisia sit second in the group with 10 points.

The Carthage Eagles play Botswana on Thursday and need a four-goal win to top the Group.

The qualifiers continue on Thursday, with Ghana, Angola, Central African Republic and Madagascar battling for qualification in Group E.

The tournament which was to be held this year was postponed by CAF (Confederation of African Football) due to the adverse summer weather conditions in Ivory Coast.

The tournament has been slated for January 13 – 11 February 11 2024 in Ivory Coast.
