Kenya Morans assistant coach Collins Gaya is delighted with the addition of post players Tom Wamukota and Bramwell Muchina.

He said the duo will bring balance to the team and boost the morale.

The two, who play in Rwanda and Tanzania respectively, have joined the camp ahead of the second edition of the Fiba AfroCan Championship slated for July 8-16 in Luanda, Angola.

Wamukota, who turns out for APR of Rwanda, was instrumental for Team Kenya that won silver at the inaugural tournament in 2019 in Bamako, Mali a tournament won by DRC. He was also named among the five best players of the tournament.

“With the arrival of the two players, the team has started to shape up. Similarly, their arrival has boosted the team's morale since they are experienced players.  This addition now gives us three point players to work with including KPA’s Brian Shivachi who reported earlier,” said Gaya.

“From their first training sessions on Thursday, I have observed that the team is physically fit. The only part that needs to improve is the ball work and we will work on that in successive trainings before heading out," he added.

Gaya said they also expect Ariel Okal, who plays for Dynamo of Burundi and Oman-based Fidel “Fathee” Okoth,  to join the camp and beef up the team’s frontcourt.

“We are waiting for the experienced Okal and Okoth to join us anytime now. Their arrival will be important to our preparations as they will boost our attack."

With only one week to the championship, the coaches are expected to trim down the squad from the current 29 players in camp.

In the build-up to the tournament, Morans have played three friendlies winning all. The team recorded a 114-86 win against the Streets League Combined side followed by a narrow 99-98 victory over premier league side Equity Bank Dumas.
