AFC Leopards gaffer Patrick Aussems has stated that the team is now focused on the Mozzart Cup semifinal on Saturday against Kakamega Homeboyz after their Mahemeji win against arch-rivals Gor Mahia.

Aussems believes the clash will be a do-or-die as it is the only chance for the team to participate in the continental games next season should Ingwe win the cup title.

“It is the shortest way to play continental and that is why we have prepared for this game for the last three weeks. It is a make or break because the team that will win on Saturday will go to the finals and that is our target,” said Aussems.

According to the gaffer, the game against Gor, plus the previous two FKF Premier League ties acted as buildups to the upcoming semifinal.

It has been three weeks now preparing for the game,” he said. “In the Gor game and even the ones before, against Nzoia Sugar and Ulinzi Stars, I tried to have the players focus as much as possible for the big semifinal.”

“For the title, we cannot fight to be champions. The Mozzart Cup is also a trophy and we are 180 minutes from winning it but we need to focus on the first 90 minutes against Homeboyz,” the Belgian tactician added.

Aussems wishes that Homeboyz will adapt to his team’s style so they can be able to manage them.

“I prefer the opponent to adapt our style just like I try to adapt to theirs. At the end of the day, I think we will be able to manage the temple and have the same style. I can say we are ready,” he added..

The Leopards coach gave these sentiments in a pre-match conference on Wednesday.
