Bandari stand-in coach Twahir Muhiddin has vowed to turn around the fortunes of the Mombasa-based Kenyan Premier League club after a torrid start to the season.

The veteran gaffer, who took over the reins from Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani has led the Dockers to two back-to-back wins thus far.

They ran riot over Vihiga Bullets with a resounding 7-2 win, before thumping Mathare United 3-0.

They face a tricky fixture against Nairobi City Stars at Kasarani Annex in Nairobi on Saturday and Muhiddin is convinced they have rediscovered their form to pull off a third straight win.

"We know the title is already out of reach but we are looking for a respectable finish. We know City Stars are good and we have prepared well for them," he said.

Muhiddin attributed their woes in the competition to a long pre-season that kept clubs inactive and left the players rusty.

"We were prepared to begin after completing our regular preseason training over the previous six weeks. But it took another two and a half months for the league to start, so we had four full months of pre-season," he said.

"At some point in the season, our players became fatigued, which had a significant impact on us. We were the victims of events beyond our control. We might have been one of the title candidates if we had begun earlier. Other teams did not have such a lengthy pre-season, which accounts for their continued vitality."

Champions Tusker will seek to close the gap on leaders Gor Mahia when they come up against Kariobangi Sharks at Moi Stadium, Kasarani on Saturday.

Wazito have a date with Posta Rangers at Muhoroni Stadium in Kisumu as KCB flex muscles with Sofapaka at Kasarani Annex, Nairobi.

Vihiga Bullets will host Talant at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega. Meanwhile, KCB have heightened preparations for a crunch clash against 12th-placed Sofapaka FC at Kasarani Annex on Monday.

The Bankers are fifth with 53 points after 29 games. KCB assistant coach Godfrey Oduor, said: “We are confident we will pick three points despite losing Michael Mutinda and Brian Ochieng. We have a wellspring of talent and the depth we have within our squad allows the coach to pick any player to fill the void."

"The training has been going on well, the boys are more than ready for an equally good Sofapaka side and we expect a valiant display from them,”  he added.

Sofapaka have had a rough stretch in their last five games, two wins and three defeats.

However, Oduor doesn't expect a walk in the park.

“Sofapaka are not an easy team to play against. They have mastered the art of quick counterattacks and can hold onto the ball as well. We have to be tactical and concentrate for the 90 minutes,” Oduor added.
