Gor Mahia skipper Philemon Otieno has warned Kenyan Premier League rivals Tusker not to pop the champagne cork just yet, saying it's still too early to determine the champions.

The Ruaraka-based brewers are ahead of K'Ogalo by a solitary point after toppling them from the apex of the log on Wednesday.

However, Otieno reckons they possess more expertise and experience to edge Tusker out of contention and blaze to their 20th title after persevering a whole three seasons in the cold.

“We are focused on clinching the title and gracing the continental stage which we have missed so much. We are aware they dislodged us from the top of the table but we are not in panic mode. That last nine matches are remaining before the season concludes," Otieno said.

He added: "Our goal at the moment is to tackle one fixture at a time. That's what we have been doing right from the start of the season and our approach is not about to change just because of unnecessary pressure," said Otieno.

The record Kenyan champions have a tricky tie against a well-polished Police FC side in their next assignment that might as well reignite or cast doom on their title aspirations this season.

Even though the Francis Baraza-tutored boasts a star-studded lineup, including five national team players, Otieno says they are not quaking in the boots.

“We are not blind to the reality that Police have recruited very good players. We are aware of the threat they pose because they are people we frequently interact with on the top flight stage. We shall have to be cautious when we come up against them on Saturday. Fortunately, we are up to the task," Otieno said.

Gor will be keen to rip the law enforcers apart and reap maximum points from the eagerly awaited encounter where a lot of fireworks are expected to come into play.

K'Ogalo suffered a setback to their title quest last weekend when they blew a 2-0 advantage at the eleventh hour to share spoils with Posta Rangers at Nyayo Stadium.

In other fixtures set for Saturday, AFC Leopards will face KCB at Moi Stadium, Kasarani in Nairobi.

Leaders Tusker have an uphill task against Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma.

Mathare United have a date with Posta Rangers at Ruaraka Grounds in Nairobi while Kariobangi Sharks will flex their muscles with Nairobi City Stars at Kasarani Annex, Nairobi.

Sofapaka and Bidco United will settle scores at Kasarani Annex, Nairobi as Wazito host Ulinzi Stars at Muhoroni Stadium in Kisumu County.

Vihiga Bullets will face Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium while Bandari will tackle Talanta at Mbaraki Grounds in Mombasa.
