The Women's Premier League has taken a week-long break to pave way for the Football Kenya Federation Women's Cup round of 16 matches this weekend.

Seven WPL teams are still in contention and face tricky fixtures against Division One opponents.  Defending champions Ulinzi Startles settle scores with Soccer Sisters at Ruraka on Saturday.

Ulinzi coach Joseph Mwanza said it is too early to start talking of title defence, urging his charges to take one match at a time. Ulinzi are also the Super Cup champions, having won the title in 2021, the last time the competition was held.

An-all WPL affair sees Thika Queens lock horns with Zetech Sparks with Thika coach Fred Majani stating that midfield will most likely determine who progresses.

Thika are still without influential striker Wendy Atieno as she continues to recover from a head injury.

"The midfield will be a big factor in deciding the winner. In the league match, they (Sparks) were superior in midfield and caused us a lot of problems. We have to deal with them with the right mentality," Majani said.

Eldoret Falcons rekindle rivalry with Royal Starlets. Falcons, a former WPL side, are banking on experience to sail to the quarterfinals. Falcons beat the University of Eldoret 4-0 in the round of 32 while Royal Starlets beat Nyuki Starlets 7-6 in post-match penalties following a one-all draw in regulation time.

Nakuru City Queens flex muscles with red-hot WPL leaders Gaspo Women. Both teams are in rich form but Nakuru have proven a tough nut to crack at home.
