Gusii FC went four games without a win in the Football Kenya National Super League after succumbing to a 1-0 loss defeat at home to Mully Children’s Family on Monday.

Gusii are in three defeats and a draw since their win over leaders Shabana a month ago.

In Monday’s game, a dominant MCF took the lead in the 82nd minute through Joshua Ratemo after a goalmouth melee.

Gusii would have lost the game by a bigger margin but they will have their goalkeeper Meshack Monari to thank for making several crucial saves.

MCF coach David Mahira said he was targeting a point at Gusii Stadium but could not say no to maximum points.

“I’m happy with the three points. My game plan worked. At least the stadium was in good condition unlike on Sunday, when we played Shabana. We were the better side today and we deserved maximum points,” said the former Shabana player.

Meanwhile, Mahira said they have issues upfront and will sign two strikers before the transfer window closes.

“We have a big problem in finishing which we must address now. We also want to sign a defender,” he added.

Gusii coach Kassim Junior did not address journalists as he held a long crisis meeting with his players over the winless streak.

Coastal Heroes edged Silibwet Leons 3-1 at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa. Samson Karisa, Lucky Kaingu, Mwanzia Ramadan were on target for the hosts while Hosea Kipchichir scored Silibwet's consolation goal.

In another match played on Monday, Naivas FC drubbed  Mombasa Elites 3-1. Brian Ouru scored a brace while John Kewish scored for Mombasa Eliteat CaMp Toyoyo grounds.

Mwatate United walloped struggling Vihiga United 5-0 at Wundanyi Stadium. Alvin Ngoto scored four as Brian Kipruto added scored once.

After 15 games, Shabana lead the NSL log with 35 points, nine better of second-placed Kibera Black Stars while Gusii drop to third with 25 points.

Murang’a Seal sits fourth on the table also with 25 points but with an inferior goal difference.
