AFC Leopards' head coach Patrick Aussems reckons his charges are on the right track after putting up a brave fight to share spoils with leaders Kakamega Homeboyz  Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday.

Homeboyz came from behind twice to squeeze out a hard-fought 2-2 win against the 13-time Kenyan Premier League champions in the exhilarating four-goal thriller.

Brian Wanyama and Eugene Mukhangula were on target for the hosts but their efforts were cancelled out by M Karamor  and Yema Mwana who netted in the 41st minute and the 70th minute respectively.

“This is the fourth game we have played unbeaten and I believe we are on the right track especially considering we were playing against the current league leaders. To be honest, I didn't see much of a difference between the two teams,” said Aussems.

“I believe the fans who attended the match witnessed a good game. Our opponents played a lot of ball in the air while we tried to keep the ball on the ground and that made it a little bit difficult,” he added.

Aussems believes they should have posted a better outcome.

“We deserved to in this game but unfortunately, we conceded goals in the same way through crosses. Those are things we shall work on.”

And in the wake of the consecutive draws that underline a blunt striking force, Aussems has sent a passionate plea to Leopards'management to consider plunging resources into the transfer market.

“I would like us to sign two or three more players and it's now up to the management to make that happen.”

Following the outcome, Kakamega Homeboyz have consolidated their position at the apex of the log where they seat with 25 points while Leopards are 15th with 10.

Homeboyz head coach Bernard Mwalala commended his side for maintaining their unbeaten run, adding that they were now well on course for their maiden title after missing it by a whisker two years ago.

"We played well and the players really put in a good fight to collect away points,' said Mwalala.

“I hope we shall continue to post better results in order to consolidate our position in the league,” said Mwalala.
