Kenya karate team will feature in the 25th World Senior Championship from November 16- 21 in Dubai.
The team, comprising of 14 athletes, reported to Moi Stadium, Kasarani for residential training after seven weeks of training with their respective clubs.
Kenya Prisons' Stephen Wesonga, who is the team captain, is confident the team will qualify for Olympic Games.
“ I believe with the kind of training we have undergone so far, we have a chance of performing well and qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games,” Wesonga said.
During an interview, coach Gregory Oluoch applauded the efforts by the Ministry of Sports and promised to reciprocate with good results.
“ We have been in training for the last two months and I believe the team has what it takes to deliver,” Oluoch noted.
The 14- member team is expected to fly-out on Saturday. The team will be accompanied by two coaches, three refs, team manager, technical director and two federation officials.
