Bandari head coach Casa Mbungo has urged his players to step on the gas pedal in their remaining three league assignments to enable them finish the season on a high note.

Mbungo made the remarks after guiding his charges to a hard-fought 2-1 win over hosts Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday.

The former AFC Leopards tactician said Sunday's outcome motivated the entire squad, adding that he was personally impressed with the great character exhibited by his players in the match that saw them register their second win in a row.

“It was a very tough match for us considering our hosts Kakamega Homeboyz are our direct opponents and also one of the teams that are currently enjoying good form at the moment. It, therefore,  feels good to collect all the three points from Bukhungu,” said Mbungo.

“We started the match poorly, making mistakes that saw us being punished by Homeboyz, but the players were not discouraged and kept on pushing and this saw us turn the table and register a win,” noted Mbungo.

The tactician said they had now shifted their focus to next season given this year's title was already out of reach, adding the team had enough quality and depth to steer them towards their goal.

“We have been conceding easy goals especially from the set pieces and we have tried to fix all these and we are happy for the good response from the players. We had set targets as a team and we have not attained them, but we want to build on this and marshal a strong campaign next season,” he said.

Bandari are set to host Mathare in their next match before playing away to Sofapaka. They wind up their fixtures against Wazito at Mbaraki Stadium.  They are currently in 4th position with 46 points from 29 matches.
