Fast-rising Lugusi Boys are upbeat ahead of the Football Kenya Federation Western branch league which also features former national secondary school champions Musingu High School tomorrow.

Lugusi tactician Enoch Luchebeleli said it will be interesting to see the teams that battled out in Kakamega County school games face each other at that level, something he termed as a motivating factor for his upcoming but tough team.

Lucheveleli expects a tough season given that they will be facing renowned teams but insisted his team is up to the task with his focus nothing short of the title.

“We can’t wait for the start of the season we are very much prepared, much focused and optimistic about performing to our best,” he said.

His Musingu’s counterpart Brendan Mwinamo revealed that they were going to use the FKF league to expose his players and gain the much-needed experience as they prepare to bounce back for school games next year.

“Musingu has been one of the soccer giants and we just want to do what is best for the team to regain our glory. We have done good recruitment and I believe we have the quality and the depth to fight on both fronts," said Mwinamo.

“With the current support from the school management, we want to prove to the rest of the teams that the Scorpion is back and we are coming for the title in this branch league."

Lugusi will open their campaign at neighbouring Kabras United at the Shamoni Secondary grounds while Musingu host Mungangafrom Mumias.  Other teams involved include St. Peters and Mumias Muslim.

The top teams will square it out in a mini-league that will see winners qualify for Division Two league.
