The 2022 Africa Boxing Championships light heavyweight silver medalist, Elizabeth Andiego, has expressed confidence in her ability to seal a slot in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The seasoned pugilist said she is eager to grace the quadrennial premier global showpiece after missing out on the plane to the 2020 Tokyo Games.

During the last outing in the Japanese capital, Kenya's flag was flown by the quartet of Elly Ajowi, Nick Okoth, Christine Ongare, and Elizabeth Akinyi.

"Of course, my immediate agenda is to book a berth in the forthcoming France 2024 Olympics. I'm crossing my fingers for a superb performance at the upcoming qualifiers," Andiego said.

"I'm confident of a good show in the qualifiers. We are training well and everyone in the team expects to make the country proud with a good performance," she said.

"It's the goal of every boxer to grace the Olympics in their career. That's my objective as well."

She was one of the three African boxers who cruised to the quarterfinals of the global showpiece. The Hit Squad members will be carrying the hopes of an entire nation eager to save the blush occasioned by a string of unimpressive runs on the international stage.

"I'm confident of performing well in the qualifiers. I'm looking forward to a good performance that will help me book a ticket to Hungary. I will stop at nothing to achieve my dream," she said.

Andiego is among the 24 boxers currently undergoing a high-intensity Olympic qualification training camp that commenced a fortnight ago at Mathare Depot in Nairobi.

The Kenyan pugilists have also been attending fitness sessions at the VMX Fitness Centre at the Village Market in Nairobi.

They were selected after a fiercely contested three-day trial that concluded at Nairobi's Charter Hall late last month.

In a separate interview head coach Benjamin Musa revealed that the same team will fly the country's flag at the forthcoming Africa Boxing Championships.
