Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) will programme more league matches if the 2022 national league is to end in time.

Joseph Amoko, the fixture secretary, revealed that his plan is to have the league end in November and that will mean teams playing more matches.

He said the new season that has been delayed until the men's Premier League play-off final on April 16, will tip off next month.

"This year's league matches will tip off later than usual but we all know the reasons that led to this," said Amoko.

He added: "What I will do after tip-off is to programme for as many games as possible because my plan is to have the league end in November."

He went on, "Teams will have to be ready to play as many as two games in a weekend because this is the only way to avoid it spilling over into next year."

Reigning champions Ulinzi Warriors will take on Kenya Ports Authority in the opening two matches at the Makande Welfare Hall in Mombasa.

Amoko said he has already embarked on drawing the fixtures for the season and promised to release them within two weeks.

"I am already working on the fixtures and it should be done in two weeks. It will be released to the teams in good time," he said.

In a related development, Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) season will throw off on April 9 at the Strathmore University courts.

Caleb Osewe, the NBA fixtures secretary, disclosed that a 20-match programme has been lined up for the opening weekend.
