No KBF league action for Dar-bound Ulinzi this weekend

National champions Ulinzi Warriors will not be involved in Premier League games until after their Basketball Africa League (BAL) engagement next week.

Joseph Amoko, the Kenya Basketball Federation KBF fixtures secretary, said that the soldiers were scheduled to play two matches this weekend, but have since been shelved.

“I had already drawn the full fixtures when FIBA Africa released the draws for BAL. Now I have no option but to reschedule their games until they complete their assignment,” Amoko said.

Ulinzi, who are currently in Mombasa for low altitude training ,were scheduled to play Kisumu Lakeside and former Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in Nairobi this weekend.

Tactician William Balozi said the training is going on well and he was optimistic of success in the October 26-31 show in Dar es Salaam, Tazania.

The Kenyan champions are drawn in Group ‘D’ of East Division and will face ASCUT (Madagascar), Cobra Sport (South Sudan) and Hawassa City (Ethiopia).

Locally, KPA will be in the city where they will take on University of Nairobi Terrorists and Equity Bank in the men’s league.

KPA ladies will play Strathmore University Swords and University of Nairobi Dynamites.

Visiting Lakeside will have their hands full when they meet Umoja and Strathmore University Blades.

Emyba return from their long break to play Thunder and Kenya College of Accountancy University.

Eldonets will be at home to Kenyatta University Pirates as women champions Equity Bank, Storms face off.
