Storms coach Abel Nson says they are not yet out of the woods despite a convincing 53-41 win over University of Nairobi Dynamites in a Kenya Basketball Federation Premier League clash at the UoN courts on Wednesday.

The campus girls, who won the first leg 59-39 three weeks ago, had little to offer as Storms took a 14-6 and 16-10 advantage in the first two quarters.

After the breather, Dynamites took charge, taking the third quarter before collapsing again 16-12 in the deciding stanza.

National team guard Jemimah Omondi was on fire tallying 26 points for Storms. Trizah Akeyo had 10 for the losers.

“It was good revenge for us. We played well in the first half. But my players need to be more confident when the game gets tighter,” said Storms coach Abel Nson.

“We have six matches left and we need to put more efforts if we are to make a good finish.”

UoN tactician Juma Kent blamed his side’s defeat on the number of matches the team have had to play lately.

“The girls looked tired. You could tell by how they missed easy shots. We just came from Kisumu on Sunday night and here we are playing again. It’s difficult to perform,” said Kent.

Strathmore University Swords playoff chances took a severe jolt after losing 49-35 to Eagle Wings.

“We played badly. This loss really dented our chances of making the playoffs but we still have matches left and we will see how it goes,” said coach Ronny Owino.

Eagle Wings led 21-18 at the break and pulled away 17-7 in the third quarter to kill off any efforts by the students.

Lucy Machuna led Wings with 14 points and veteran Shilalei Sani bagged another 10 for the winners.

Swords had no double-figure scorers but had a combined 17 points from Joy Adongo and Berly Kitete.

Eunice Ouma, the Eagle Wings coach said: “We will keep pushing and see if we can make the playoff.”
