Wafula's return a boost to Ulinzi, says coach Balozi

The return of sharp-shooting Ancette Wafula to Ulinzi Warriors is a real morale booster to the team according to coach William Balozi.

The lanky Wafula left Thunder to return to the soldiers' outfit and was key during their 67-49 win over Umoja at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium.

The deadly Wafula sunk 21 points for Ulinzi up 23-10 in the first quarter. Vincent Bosire tallied 18. The losers Collins Sudi scored 10.

“We have Wafula back to the team and it has begun to show. The boys played well executing in all fronts. However, we are not underrating anyone,” said Balozi.

“It’s still early in the season and we will take one game at a time and see how it goes. So far we have two wins from two games.”

The visiting Kisumu side got off the blocks fast leading 16-13 in the first quarter before things changed in the second as they trailed 7-19.

After the break Thunder struck, taking a 21-9 in the third quarter before trailing 20-16 in the deciding stanza. 

Griffin Ligare led all scorers with 25 points that included seven three-pointers while Juma bagged 10 for Thunder. Emyba had 24 points from Eugene Adera and 12 from Thomas Kioko as they shut out University of Nairobi “Terrorists” 62-44.

In the lower division matches, Neosasa hit Little Prince 49-43 while Mustang lost 70-62 to Shoot 4 Life.

World Hope were thumped 83-27 by Zetech University while Feba dismissed Nakuru Club 48-42.
