24 teams set to grace Kenya Aquatics Nationals Masters Swimming Championship later this month

Some 24 swim clubs will compete at the inaugural Kenya Aquatics Nationals Masters Swimming Championship at the Sabis International School, Runda on March 23.

Kenya Aquatics is committed to establishing a comprehensive national database for master swimmers and fortifying structures to support the training of adult swimmers

The master gala invitations have been extended to various institutions, encompassing government agencies such as the Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Defence Forces, National Police Service, Kenya Prison Service, and more.

Additionally, several other noteworthy teams have officially confirmed their participation including The Harpoons, Braeburn, Peponi, Tipwa Tipwa, Comprehensive, Fithub, Torpedos, Genesis, Home Aquatics, Gators,

Others are Potterhouse, USIU Dolphins, Seahorses, Supermarlins, Parklands Sports Club, Speed Sharks, Blue Dolphins, Juja Prep, Olive Fins, Mombasa Aquatics, Mseto, Bandari, Crawford International School, Thika Marines, Kisumu Sharks and Hydro Fit.

Event organiser Joseph Ndungu expects bumper entry of swimmers for the event.

"This is going to be a big event, especially for swimmers who are over 25 and are in their 30s  40s and even 50s  and we are still anticipating more swimmers to register for the event am, calling more swimmers to register," Ndungu said.

Ndungu commended Kenya Aquatics for embracing master swimming, aligning with advanced countries like America and Europe where masters swimming programmes thrive.

"If you go to the big swimming nations masters swimming is a big competition and thousands of swimmers turn up we hope we can have similar impact in the country."

Following the event Aquatics Kenya will come up with a Masters Swim database which in future will be used to select a team for international competition later in the year.

Elsewhere Over a hundred swimming coaches converged for the Kiambu Aquatics Meet and Team Manager Swimming Clinic conducted over the weekend at Zetech University

Secretary General of Kenya Aquatics Collins Marigiri adeptly navigated the coaches through comprehensive training on the orchestration of swimming meets, leveraging advanced meet swimming software.

This technology, pivotal in the management of both national and international aquatic competitions, marks a significant leap in the sport's administration.

Furthermore, the clinic offered an in-depth exploration of athlete database management via team manager software, streamlining the process with the innovative use of zip files for entries submission.

The clinic drew a diverse group of coaches from across the country, including but not limited to, Kiambu, Kisumu, Nairobi, Machakos, Nyeri, Nyandarua, and Laikipia.
