Kenya’s Women Parliamentarians’ basketball team secured a thrilling 38-17 victory against hosts Rwanda at the ongoing East African Community (EAC) Parliamentary games in Kigali, Rwanda.

Team Kenya, Captained by Hon. Lydia Haika (Taita Taveta) put up a good show throughout the competition defeating their Rwandese counterparts in all the four quarters of the match at Lycee de Kigali Gymnasium.

The star of the game Busia County Woman Representative, Catherine Omanyo’s swift and calculated moves both offensively and defensively made her the heroine of the game.

Another force to reckon with was Nominated Senator Veronica Maina, whose easy-scoring tactics stunned their competitors.

Team Kenya consisting of Kasiwai Rael, Senator Beth Syengo, Lilian Gogo, Zamzam Mohamed, Laura Amina, Sen. Catherine Mumma, Sen. Miraj Abdulrahman, Lilian Siyoi will face off with Tanzania on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Bunge FC  thrashed the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) football team 5-0 in a captivating match at the Kigali Pele Stadium.

Captained by Rarieda MP, Otiende Amollo, the team held down their opponent EALA who barely had any attempt at passing the ball past Kenya’s tight defence in the second half of the match.

Nyali MP, Mohammed Ali gave Kenya their first two goals, which were scored in quick succession, before Webuye West MP, Dan Wanyama netted a penalty past EALA keeper Hon. Kanini Kega.

Senate Majority Leader, Senator Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho) earned Kenya their fourth goal before Kiminini MP, Kakai Bisau, netted Kenya’s fifth goal.
