Luanda Villa promoted to NSL after winning Division 1 Zone B title

Villa edged out Zoo FC from Kericho 1-0 at Mumboha stadium on Saturday afternoon to claim the title.

Vihiga  County's Luanda Villa have been promoted to the National Super League after being crowned the FKF Division 1 Zone B champions.

Villa edged out Zoo FC from Kericho 1-0 at Mumboha Stadium on Saturday afternoon to claim the title.

The defeat leave Zoo in the play-offs for NSL promotion against Nairobi United on August 6 in Nakuru.

Villa failed to make it to NSL last season after losing to Ass Assad FC from the coastal region in the promotion play-offs.

Villa coach Tom Tera expressed his excitement, saying it is their time to enjoy the sweetness of NSL after years of failure. He added the team will go back to the drawing board and plan for life in the second-tier division.

"I am proud of my players. At last, we have made it to the NSL after years of struggle. I believe we have made our fans happy. It is now going back to the drawing board and plan for NSL. We need to affirm authority in the league," offered Tera.

Tera urged the Football Kenya Federation to consider Mumboha Stadium as their home ground in order to cut shot the expenses of ground hire. He added: "The club is currently facing a financial crisis and we are only supported by our fans. Therefore,  forcing them to help us hire the ground won't be easy."

Already the Vihiga County government has allocated Sh10 million to facelift the ground to meet the standards necessary to host NSL matches.

Vihiga County will now have three representatives in the NSL; Vihiga United, Vihiga Bullets who have been relegated from FKF-PL and the newbies Luanda Villa.
