The postponed men's hockey Premier League match pitting fiercest rivals Butali Warriors against Kenya Police last weekend, will now be played on June 1 at the City Park Stadium.

Kenya Hockey Union deputy match and fixtures secretary Moses Majiwa also confirmed that the abandoned Kenya police match against Strathmore Scorpions will be completed on May 21.

The Butali match could not be played as planned because of the heavy rains witnessed in Nairobi on Sunday.

Police were leading 1-0 against the Scorpions courtesy of Sammy Oungo's penalty goal while the students also failed to convert from the spot.

"The Police match will resume from the 49th minute because there were only 11 minutes remaining. It will be the only match that day after which it will pave the way for the national team training," Majiwa said.

Majiwa also defended the league fixtures from recent criticism by a section of disgruntled stakeholders who termed the scheduling of matches 'unfair' since some teams were yet to play a match this season.

"The union has to abide by the calendar of universities. It is hard to schedule university matches when students are out of session," Majiwa added.
