The third edition of the Busia Border Marathon will be held on Easter Sunday at Busia Polytechnic with various awards up for grabs.

Busia Border Marathon coordinator, Sarah Martha, flanked by co-coordinator Johnrich Kasiba said the competitive races will include 15km and 10km for both men and women.

Martha said there will be also other fun races that will include 5km, 2km, 100m and assorted kids’ games and entertainment.

The two officials urged county residents to turn up in large numbers for the races and free medical checkups.

Martha said the medical checkups will include cancer screening, diabetes and pressure testing, access to HIV testing, HPV vaccination and eye care as well as blood donation. All the services will be provided for free.

The theme of the Border Marathon is “Build and Advocate for Health Awareness Through Behaviour Change and Talent Promotion in Order to Achieve Sustainability and Building Wealthy Border Communities”.

Kasiba thanked Athletics Kenya (AK) Busia branch, who helped in track and route mapping, Busia county government Department of Health and Sanitation, the Kenya Red Cross, Dumisha Afya, Emaua and Emuria FM for their sponsorships.

The Athletics Kenya Kenya officials involved in track and route mapping included AK Bungoma chairman and national technical official Shem Ominde, World Athletics Referee Maurice Okumu and AK Western senior vice chairperson and Busia secretary Hilda Amusogoto.
