Homeboyz's Mudavadi explains why he skipped Stars' call-up

According to Mudavadi, this is not his first call-up to the national team having been also invited in 2017.

Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Moses Mudavadi has explained why he failed to honour the national team call-up to the Harambee Stars' provisional squad.

He said while he appreciates the Stars' coach Engin Firat's call-up, It came at the time he was battling family issues and hence could not make it.

Mudavadi the call-up was timely and at the peak of his career but unfortunately, he had pressing issues that would not have allowed hime3 to honour the invite.

“ It is important to communicate why I didn't honour the invite because no one from the federation has made a follow-up to find out why I didn't show up p,” Mudavadi said.

He said his call-up came while he was in Nairobi but immediately received another call from home, requiring him to attend to urgent family matters.

He said after resolving the issues, it was too late to link up with the rest of the squad that was preparing for a friendly against Iran in Tehran

Homeboyz coach Patrick Odhiambo said Mudavadi’s call-up to the national team is a motivation to other players at the club.

Both Mudavadi and Odhiambo were speaking at Mumboha grounds during a friendly match against Luanda Villa FC.

“Any player would love to join the national and so when they see their teammate being called up to the national team,  it motivates them to work hard,” Odhiambo said.

He described Mudavadi as a good player, very experienced with the capacity to deliver at the national team level.

According to Mudavadi, this is not his first call-up to the national team having been also invited in 2017.

“Before Kenya was suspended for two years in the international matches in 2017,  I had a call-up to the national team but whatever happened is a story of another day,” he said.
