Champions NCPB whip NCC in league encounter

Champions National Cereals & Produce Board men's team crushed Nairobi City Council 39-14 in a Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league match at Nyayo Stadium.

The millers, who have yet to lose a match took a deserved 18-6 advantage at halftime as NCC offered little resistance.

Timothy Kirimi scored nine goals to lead the NCPB rout while Robert Maraga managed eight.

Walter Nyongesa recorded five goals while Tyson Wangusi chipped in with three for the losers.

Kelvin Imo shot 15 goals as he led Ulinzi to a 47-13 thumping of hapless Young City after a 22-5 lead at the intermission. Philip Isutsa nailed seven and Abel Waweru added six.

Felix Otieno hit five and Dickson bagged three. NCC women's side were hit hard by NCPB who whipped them 49-16 behind 14 goals from Sarah Mabonga, Sheryl Atieno added nine and Joan Juma shot 12.

NCC, who were down 27-10 at halftime, had five from Karen Masinde and three each from Dorine Cherotich and Veronica Akinyi. Wilfred Madara, the NCC tactician, said he is impressed with his girls showing in the league as they keep improving day by day.

"There is improvement in my girls' team which means good progress is being made. Before we couldn't even score 10 goals, today we hit 16."

"We will keep working hard and I can assure you that we have played all the top three teams and we expect to win some games, " he said.
