Johnnie Walker Golf Series heads to Limuru today

A total of 33 teams have qualified to play in the semi-finals planned for May at Muthaiaga.

Over 150 golfers are expected to grace the 12th round of the Johnnie Walker Golf Series in Limuru Country Club today.

Dubbed 'Road to Gleneagles', the event is being played on a four-ball Stableford format and starts at 7 am.

The top three winning teams will book slots to play at the competition’s Eagles Round.

The top teams will be seeking to make the cut to play in the series’ Grand Finale, whose ultimate prize will be a fully paid trip to the iconic Gleneagles Golf Course in Scotland.

A total of 33 teams have qualified to play in the semi-finals planned for May at Muthaiaga. The Limuru event follows the eleventh leg played at Nyali Golf Club this past weekend.

The last event saw the team of Christine Ockotch, Florence Karimi, Martin Ombura, and Mburu Kariuki, score a combined score of 131 points to be crowned the overall winners.

They beat a team of Jon Stokes, Pauline Gachihi, Mary Kandu, and Petronilah Kalee managed a combined score of 128 points for second place.

The quartet of  Joyce Masai, Alice Wahome, Martin Wahome, and Lumatete Muchai who also scored 128 points lost on countback to the second-placed team.

Speaking during the tournament, KBL’s representative Leah Mwanzia, said they are looking forward to the semi-finals at Muthaiga in May and later the Grand Finale at the iconic Gleneagles Golf Course in Scotland.

"This competition is a fantastic opportunity for the best of our local golfers to experience Gleneagles which is a true bucket-list destination for both golfers and non-golfers alike. I believe winners from this leg will represent the club very well at the finals," she said.
