KPA, Equity suffer defeats in Africa show in Maputo

Kenyan giants, Kenya Ports Authority and Equity Bank suffered a heavy defeat in their Africa women’s Club Championships tie in Maputo, Mozambique.
KPA were humbled 71-61 by Congolese side, INSS a day after going down to Nigerian side, First Bank in a Pool ‘B’ match.
Jamila Nansikombi once again led the Porters with 25 points, the third time she was scoring over 20 points in a game. Anne Rose Mandela tallied 15 points in the losing effort. Evoile Londa managed 19 points, Cecilia Nyoka bagged 16 and Minelle Siyoyo contributed 14 in a well-balanced team effort.
Equity Bank, on the other hand, suffered their second defeat in a row when they went down 77-44 to FAP of Cameroon in Pool ‘A’ match. The bankers had no player scoring in double figures as Belinda Okoth and Betty Kananu posting eight and Samba Mjomba managing. The Cameroonian side had 22 points from Alexander Green and 18 points from Marie Claire. In other scores, Ferroviaro de Maputo whipped Vita of Congo 75-45 while First Bank of Nigeria thumped Lakers from Zimbabwe 86-56.
Equity Bank will tackle favourites Inter Clube of Angola while KPA have a rest day. MB2ALL of Madagascar play Lakers, FAP meet Vita Club, and First Bank tackle INSS of Congo.
