After sealing the final round of the 2018 World Cup qualifier, Ghana coach Yussuf Basigi has tipped the Kenya Under-20 women’s team to do better in future assignments. The West Africans humiliated Junior Harambee Starlets 5-1 to seal a place in final round for World Cup qualifier on a 10-1 on aggregate at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos
“It’s a good team and if they continue featuring in as many available championship as they can they will be a force to reckon with in future and we wish them well,” said Basigi whose side will now play Cameroon in January. “We knew they were a tough side, but scoring two early goals in a way distablised our opponents and now our focus is to go all the way and qualify for the World Cup,” he said. On his part, Starlets technical bench director Musa Otieno said they had picked valuable lessons that will come in handy in future assignments.
“If you make mistakes, be ready to be punished. However the consolation we have is that we are building a team for future and we have to start from somewhere, work hard, persevere and finally get the punch ” said Otieno, who doubles up as the Harambee Stars assistant coach.
