The annual CBA Africa Concours d’Elegance motor show challenge has so far attracted 32 cars and

21 bikes.
However, the organisers are targeting 70 classic and vintage cars and 40 motorcycles for the event set for September 24th at Nairobi Racecourse.
The challenge, usually organised by Alfa Romeo Owners Club, seeks to award owners of well kept classic and vintage cars and bikes and it’s considered as the classiest event on the Kenya Motor Sports Federation calendar. This year being 47th edition, will see Maina Muthuma return to Racecourse with his 1960 Morris Minor, which is a previous prize winner.

Out of the already registered 32 cars and

21 bikes, Paul Chemgorem of Volkswagen Karmann Ghia leads the challenge with his 1962 machine and he is expected to battle with other entries like the 1927’s Dodge Saloon car. Other concours, who have confirmed participation are 1927’s Austin Mini Vitafoam Products, Stephen Warui’s 1959 Volkswagen beetle, Leslie Carvel’s 1970 Volkswagen Beetle, Christine Omuombo’s 1968 beetle and Joseph Aluoch’s 1952 Chevrolet Deluxe.
KMSF chairman, Phineas Kimathi said: “It is a good race as it helps in showcasing the prowess of vintage cars and bikes; besides developing the motorsport and attracting more fans. We are looking forward for a better event this year with the increase of the number of entries drawn from different parts of the world. The winners from each category will be awarded with trophies.”
The event’s director Bob Dewar said: “We expect this year’s event to be better than last edition and our theme is Beauty and the Beast.”
