Olympic High School’s girls’ teams and Embakasi Girls dominate the Nairobi Region Secondary School Term Two ‘A’ Games set for between May 18 and 21 at Lenana School.
Both schools have fielded a team in the three disciplines- handball, football and netball. In girls’ handball, Olympic, Dagoretti Mixed and Ngara battle in the second group, while Embakasi Girls are in Pool ‘D’ with Pangani, Starehe and Nembu.
Defending champions New Jogoo Road will face Embakasi Garrison, Moi Girls Nairobi and Dandora in Pool ‘A,’ Lang’ata Barracks, Magodo, State House Girls and Buruburu Girls have been drawn in Pool ‘C.’ The last group pits Kinyango, Mt. Laverna, Our Lady of Mercy (Shauri Moyo) and Lavington Mixed.
Regional handball holders Makongeni Boys are set to open their title defense against Lang’ata High. Makongeni have been drawn in Pool ‘C’ together with Nairobi School and Eastleigh High, whereas Embakasi Garrison, Upper Hill, Drumvale and former regional winners Aquinas are in the first group.
Hosts Lenana School, Lang’ata Barracks, Olympics and Starehe Boys Centre play in Pool ‘B’ preliminaries, Dagoretti Mixed, Ruaraka, Mwangaza and Dr. Ribeiro Parklands are in group ‘D’ and Strathmore School, Our Lady of Fatima, Moi Forces Academy and Muhuri Muchiri complete the boys teams.
In netball, Embakasi Girls are in Pool ‘A’ alongside St. Dorcas, Baba Dogo Secondary and Ruai Girls, while Olympics are pitted against Kariobangi North Girls, Eutycus and Maono in Pool ‘C.’ The second grouping has Parklands Arya Girls, Our Lady of Mercy (Shauri Moyo), Our Lady of Mercy (South B) and St. Teresa’s Eastleigh.
Pool ‘D’ consists of Buruburu, Pangani, State House Girls and Maina Wanjigi as the last has Dandora, St. Hannahs, Kibra Girls Soccer and Embakasi Garrison. In the long time specialty- football- Olympic Secondary School girls under 16 side will face Hidden Talent, Kenya High and Starehe Girls in the first group’s preliminaries. Pool ‘B’ drew Buruburu, Dandora, St. Justino and Our Lady of Mercy (Shauri Moyo), while Embakasi Girls are in Pool ‘C’ alongside St. Joseph’s Technical, Elite Visionary and St. Mary’s.

Raila Educational Centre have this year replaced Olympic Secondary boys football team at the regionals, and they play Kabiro, Kangemi and Kahawa Garrison in Pool ‘A.’
The second pool has Aquinas, Muhuri Muchiri, Moi Forces Academy and Mwangaza, and Pool ‘C’ will be a battle of the hills where Light Academy come face-to-face with Hospital Hill, Upper Hill and Brown Hill. The last two groups pits Eastleigh High, Our Lady of Fatima, Pumwani and Ruai in one, and former kingpins Jamhuri, Sunshine, Hidden Talent and Makongeni in the other.
In the under 16 football competition, Olympic will be up against Hidden Talent, Kenya High and Starehe in Pool ‘A’.
