Sailors Amiras are the latest entrants in the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) women’s national league set to kick off next month.

Sailors Amiras are a sister club to the recently promoted men’s Premiere League club, Chase Sailors.

Chase Sailors earned promotion to the top tier by virtue of emerging top in the national league alongside Bay Club. According to the club’s founder Jayala Simba, the move is aimed at promoting gender equality. Simba said, “Just like I founded the men’s club which made a debut in the national men’s league last season before earning promotion to the top tier, I saw it fit to have a female outfit.”

He continued, “We still have the goodwill from our sponsors Chase Bank. Despite being under receivership , they have assured us total support. We have recruited 22 players from secondary school and clubs and we are ready for the season.
