Defending champions Upper Hill School leads 16 teams to the second round of the Nairobi County Term 2A Secondary School games rugby Sevens set for today and tomorrow at Nairobi School.

Upper Hill top Pool ‘A’ where they face off with Highway Secondary, Lenana and Makini. Pool ‘B’ comprises last year’s Plate winners Ofafa Jericho, Moi Forces Academy, Jamhuri and Parklands. Hosts Nairobi School lead Pool ‘C’ that also has Eutychus, Lang’ata and Aquinas. Last year finalists Muhuri Muchiri will lead Pool ‘D’ where they battle Strathmore, Dagoretti and NPC Academy. Sixteen teams will battle it out in the second round after eight were eliminated in the first round. Upper Hill, Jericho, Lenana and Muhuri Muchiri finished in that order during the first round after tying on nine points.

Elsewhere, Kwale’s Kaya Tiwi and Mwakitawa from Taita Taveta booked their tickets for the semi-finals after winning their opening matches as the Coast regional secondary schools Term 2A games got under way at Malindi High School yesterday.

Kaya Tiwi, who 0are highly tipped to win netball title hammered Lake Kenyatta from Lamu 56-02 and went ahead to humiliate Garsen secondary 85-00.

Mwakitawa, who played in last year’s finals, beat St Charles Lwanga 36-05 and went on to clobber Franz Joseph Mamba 46-11. Other Netball matches saw Kilifi champions Chumani beat Franz Joseph Mamba 24-19 while Kizurini beat Garsen secondary 58-01.
