Kenya Sevens rugby team head coach Benjamin Ayimba has said he will continue experimenting for the next two world series legs in Las Vegas and Vancouver next month.

He said he will give every player of the 20 man squad a chance in the final six legs before unveiling the final 12 men for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in June .

Ayimba had called up Frank Wanyama of Quins , Robert Aringo (Impala) , Nakuru’s Nelson Oyoo and Donald Oluoch and Jeff Oluoch of Homeboyz for the first four legs.

Ayimba notes the team is begiunning to take shape but has urged fans to be realistic.

“You’ll see more quarters than semi final placings. Let’s build ourselves from the poor season from last year . Once we stabilize to a good position we can get Argentina and USA out of the way and climb one step high because they are very close to us we can start expecting semis and finals” noted Ayimba

Ayimba observed competition for a place in the squad has gone a notch higher and expects it to remain there until the end of the season.

“It’s healthy and good for the technical bench because the players are giving their all and we are till looking at various combinations in the squad, so its good” added Ayimba

On Kenya’s next opponents in the Las Vegas who include Portugal, Russia and New Zealand, Ayimba said there are no longer easy opponents in the world series.

“You have seen teams like France and Samoa struggling so far because everyone has upped their game. It’s wide open and if you are not up to it from the first match to the last minute you will lose,” he added.

Elsewhere Homeboyz RFC are set to rest senior players when they play Bungoma Sharks this weekend to spare them for the midweek clash with Strathmore.

The clash is set for next week after the Shark’s game which was postponed due to Geoffrey Gitahiga’s burial early in February.

Homeboyz have this season lost only two matches. The most recent one being to log leaders Impala Saracens and Nondescript.

Commenting on the progress of the season, team manager Odongo said: “The season is good and being number four means if we beat Strathmore Leos we will go to the top of the table. The boys are doing well and we are proud of it.”.

The Deejayz have also been boosted by the return of head coach Paul Murunga who was away in Wellington and Sydney with the Kenya Sevens team.
