Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has said the DAP-K signed an MoU with the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition to benefit the Western region, if Raila Odinga wins.

Wangamati said the pact was signed by DAP-K secretary general Eseli Simiyu and will see the Western region get three Cabinet secretaries and at least five permanent secretaries.

He spoke at Mukuyuni in Tongaren constituency on Monday during a baraza.

The governor said DAP-K has a working partnership with Azimio to vote for Raila.

"DAP-K has a legitimate and signed working partnership with Azimio and I want to assure you that if Raila wins the elections, then the region will benefit,” he said.

Wangamati said despite being a new party, DAP- K has overtaken older parties and has fielded candidates in every corner of the country.

“DAP-K is the fastest-growing party in the country. I am the one leading Azimio campaigns in Bungoma county to ensure Raila ascends to power,” Wangamati said.

Wangamati said he has been unable to complete projects because ward representatives allied to Senator Moses Wetang’ula frustrated him with many court cases that stalled the implementation.

He asked the Bungoma electorate to vote for the MCAs who will support his development agenda in the August polls.

“I managed to complete some projects because the MCAs never disturbed me. I want to ask you to give me MCAs who will support me to work for you,” Wangamati said.

He faulted Senator Wetang’ula for backing Ken Lusaka’s second bid for the governor seat, despite accusing him of graft.

“In 2017, we heard Wetang’ula accusing Lusaka of being a corrupt leader. My question is, where did he sanitise him to come and serve as the governor? Let’s reject such jokes and vote for development-oriented leaders,” he said.

Also present at the event were Bungoma Deputy Governor Charles Ngome and Woman Rep candidate Regnaldah Wanyonyi.
