Kisii gubernatorial aspirant Chris Obure has said he will consult residents on the projects they will want him to prioritise if elected.

Obure, who is running on a Jubilee ticket, said he will involve all stakeholders in development in all the nine constituencies to offer demand-driven services.

"Leadership is not about an individual but the electorate. I want to assure Kisii residents that I will prioritise projects if they give me the opportunity," Obure told the press at Marsh Park Hotel on Friday during a meeting with stakeholders from various sectors.

Obure, who is seeking to succeed Governor James Ongwae, was accompanied by  his running mate William Mbaka, Jubilee Senate candidate Omingo Magara and Woman Representative aspirant Peris Onsarigo.

If elected, Obure said he will provide a good environment for small scale traders, investors, boda boda operators, hawkers and shoe shiners among other stakeholders to ease their businesses.

He said he will ensure funds channeled to the devolved unit and employment opportunities are fairly distributed.

“My administration  will work with the business community to identify priority projects and implement them to improve their livelihood,” he added.M

Obure, Magara, Mbaka and Onsarigo drummed up support for ODM leader  Raila Odinga,  saying  he deserves to be the fifth president considering that he fought for democracy of this country.

He underscored the importance of the business community in enhancing the county’s economic growth, adding that his leadership will harmonise taxes to promote business in the county.

“I will ensure that locals have access to good roads, regular power and water supply, improved drainage system and adequate toilets in all markets across the county,” he further said.

Magara, who is making a stab at the seat for the third time, said that their competitors  lacked policies and appealed to locals to elect visionary leaders who will steer the county to greater heights of development.

Other politicians who are seeking to succeed Ongwae are Simba Arati, Ezekiel Machogu, Manson Oyongo and Sam Ongeri.
