The race for the Homa Bay woman representative seat has been narrowed down to three women after Moline Ngala announced her independent candidature.

Ngala left ODM after the party tribunal upheld the nomination of former Kisumu Roads executive Joyce Osogo which she also disputed.

Ngala is among the five aspirants who disputed the results of the party primaries where Osogo emerged the winner.

Osogo got 16,888 votes and former Homa Bay Energy executive Beatrice Ogola scored 15,415 votes.

Ngala was third with 11,045 votes.

Others who were in the race were former members of Homa Bay Public Service Florence Ouma, Lavender Ojala and Sheryl Ayieko.

“ODM tribunal didn’t provide justice by approving the nominee of the wrong winner. I’m going to be independent and the people will decide,” Ngala said.

Speaking in Homa Bay town on Saturday, Ngala said her candidature is going to provide an alternative to the majority of Homa Bay residents who were not satisfied with Osogo's nomination.

She said Osogo was announced with cooked and predetermined results.

Ngala and Ogola went to a tribunal to annul the results.

They accused ODM National Elections Board of failing to give Homa Bay residents accurate results after the nomination exercise which was conducted on April 14.

“I will be on the ballot. Let’s soldier on and win the seat” she seat.

Ngala will now face off with Osogo and Mary Ojode who is contesting the seat on Democratic Action Party of Kenya.

“Registrar of political parties has approved me to contest the seat as an independent candidate,” she said.

They want to replace the current woman representative Gladys Wanga.

Wanga is serving her second term and has been nominated by ODM as the candidate for the governor race.
