•At Shell in Siaya town Super Petrol retailed at ksh135.40 per litre whereas diesel sold at ksh116.60 per litre.

•Hawkers who re-sold to many motorists who were stranded did so at as high as Ksh250 per litre.

Scarcity of fuel was experienced in Siaya town and it's environs on Tuesday.

This gave room for new fuel dealers, who hawked the highly flammable commodity in smaller bottles.

At Shell in Siaya town Super Petrol retailed at Sh135.40 per litre whereas diesel sold at Sh116.60 per litre.

Hawkers who re-sold the commodity to many stranded motorists, did so at prices as high as Sh250 per litre.

"This is a business opportunity for me. Yesterday, I bought 100 litres of petrol from Shell and I am here to help those who are stranded, at a profit," a hawker who identified himself as Jakapiyo said.

A spot check revealed that Shell did not have fuel the entire Tuesday morning. 

The latest supply they  received was on Sunday.

Other fuel outlets in town had dry pumps too.
