A Kakamega family is in agony after their Form 3 son went missing from school under unclear circumstances a month ago.

Alvin Wekesa, 16, who is a student at Maseno High School, reportedly went missing on November 9.

Wekesa’s mother Margaret Wanjusi said they have had sleepless nights over the whereabouts of their son.

"I love my son very much and I am asking anyone who could have seen him to please report to the nearest police station for us as a family to have peace of mind," she said amid tears.

She said that after a month's fruitless search for their missing son in the homes of relatives and friends, they have now expanded their search beyond Nairobi.

His father, Jasper Sasaka, prays that his second-born son who he said is very polite and respectful returns home safely.

“We have been left wondering where he is since he has been in school since Form 1 without disturbing us. We have began suspecting that he may have been abducted. We have looked for him in mortuaries, police cells and prisons in vain,” he said.

He asked the police to intensify the search for their son. The family is from Matunda in Limuyani subcounty, Kakamega.

A missing person report was made vide OB Number 32/09/11/2021 at 5.17pm at Maseno police station.

Maseno principal Andrew Buop said Sasaka left school on November 9 at about 6am and has not been seen again.

"The student, who has no record of indiscipline, just left school when we were about to go for half-term and we thought he would come back after the half-term but he hasn't been seen,” he said.

He said Wekesa's elder brother, who is in Form 4 in the same school, is going on well with his studies.

"We reported the case to police and efforts by the schools management with the help of his elder brother to trace him have borne no fruits,” he said.
