Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has protested after ODM handed  Woman Representative Gladys Wanga a direct ticket.

ODM leader Raila Odinga directed that the nomination ticket be given to Wanga following consensus among other aspirants eyeing Homa Bay governor seat.

However, Kidero has opposed the move saying he was not among the people who were consulted for the consensus.

“I was not called to attend any meeting to discuss consensus for the gubernatorial seat. But I have just heard that the ticket has been issued,” Kidero said.

Kidero said the he will be on the ballot in August 9 general polls.

“They are talking of issuing the ticket based on consensus. My views were not sought yet I am also an aspirant who paid nomination fees. Why did they exclude me,” he said.

Kidero asked his supporters to remain calm and assured them of being the on ballot.

The former governor did not disclose whether he will contest as an independent candidate or under another political party.

“What I know is that I cannot contest the seat on ODM. But I am looking for available avenues to ensure I get a ticket,” Kidero said.

He argued that his next plan is to return to Homa Bay residents and seek their consent to enable him become the next governor.

“Homa Bay residents are the people with have the final say on who becomes their next governor. I am destined for conversations with them,” he said.

Kidero spoke as supporters of Wanga engaged in celebrations after they heard that ticket would be accorded to her.

“Wanga will not fail the people of Homa Bay. You have our full support,” one of supporter Ouko Robert said.
