Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka has called for peaceful campaigns in Mwingi and Kenya as a whole.

Kalonzo spoke on Saturday while addressing mourners at a burial in Waita, Mwingi Central.

His sentiments come after supporters allied to Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi and Wilson Kimwele, a Wiper aspirant, engaged in verbal attacks in Mwingi town.

Four days ago, Kimwele, a renown businessman in Mwingi launched his campaign bid.

He also went around the town urging residents to ensure they register as voters.

However, as his vehicle and supporters went around the town, Mulyungi’s supporters started abusing the aspirant.

Soon after, Mulyungi’s supporters started throwing stones at a hotel premise that belongs to the aspirant.

The incumbent’s supporters were heard shouting that Mwingi Central MP position has been occupied till 2027.

Kimwele said he was surprised at the act of hooliganism which is not allowed in this society.

He urged the youth to refuse being used to cause chaos as the country prepares for the general election.

The incident took place a few days after Kitui Senator, Kiio Wambua was heckled by youths in Nguni.

The chaos occurred when Kalonzo led leaders and residents in launching the Sh570 million Enziu bridge construction.

As Wambua stood to talk, youths heckled continuously forcing him to cut his speech short.

The politician accused Mwingi Central MP of not wanting him to address the residents.

Kalonzo has condemned the acts saying Mwingi is known to be peaceful and such acts were uncalled for.

He said the acts are destroying his reputation in his home ground as he eyes the top seat.

"I don’t expect any trouble from Mwingi. Stop the chaotic behaviors," Kalonzo said.

He said the Wiper party represents peace and is the reason why the community has been respected in the country.

Kalonzo said he will have a meeting with all Wiper leaders as it is not pleasing to have the party’s members fight one another.

"I will start with Mwingi Central MP, Gideon Mulyungi and Ambassador Kiema Kilonzo as what was witnessed in Kitui was not pleasing. Let us all be united, not everyone can become governor," he said.

The Wiper leader was accompanied by Kitui Woman Rep Irene Kasalu and Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi.
