Azimio boss Raila Odinga is the most preferred presidential aspirant in Nairobi, Mombasa and Makueni counties, a new survey by Tifa shows.

According to the poll, Raila is leading in Nairobi with 41 per cent against Deputy President William who is second with 26 per cent.

In the capital city, Raila's ODM is the most popular political party with 26 per cent while Ruto's UDA comes second with 22 per cent.

In position three is President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party with 5 per cent.

However, some 44 per cent of the city dwellers are yet to make a decision on which political party to support.

On the popularity of the alliances, Azimio La Umoja is most popular in Nairobi with 42 per cent, followed by Kenya Kwanza with 22 per cent.

There is a big chunk of people at 36 per cent who are not affiliated to any alliance.

In Makueni county, Azimio La Umoja is most popular alliance at 62 per cent while Ruto's Kenya Kwanza comes second with 13 per cent.

There is a population of 24 per cent that is undecided.

In the same county, Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper is the most popular political party with 43 percent, followed by UDA at 17 per cent.

There are 25 per cent of residents who are undecided.

Raila is the most preferred presidential aspirant in Makueni county with 48 per cent followed by Kalonzo with 21 per cent while Ruto polled 18 per cent.

Some 13 per cent are undecided.

In Mombasa county, Raila is the most preferred presidential aspirant at 50 percent.

Ruto comes second with 32 per cent while 18 per cent are undecided.

The ruling party polled 2 per cent, Wiper polled 2 per cent while 35 per cent were undecided.

In terms of alliance affiliations, Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance is the most popular with 41 per cent followed by Kenya Kwanza with 27 per cent.

Some 32 respondents were undecided on which alliance they are affiliated to.

The poll, which was done in the month of April, sampled between 400 and 900 respondents in the three counties.

In Nairobi there were 649 respondents, Makueni 900 and Mombasa 400, all aged above 18 years.

The poll used telephonic interviews in Nairobi and Mombasa counties while face-to-face interviews were used in Makueni county.

The poll outcome has a margin of era of +/-4 per cent in both Nairobi and Mombasa while in Makueni the margin of era is +/-3.2 per cent.

In the terms of county elective seats contests, ODM's Abdulswamad Nassir is the man to beat in the Mombasa governor's race with 40 per cent.

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko who is running on the Wiper ticket came second with 28 per cent while UDA's Hassan Omar came third with 9 per cent.

William Kingi has 1 per cent while 22 per cent are undecided.

In the Senate race, Faki Mohamed of ODM has 14 per cent, Hamisi Mwaguya (7 per cent), Abdulsalaam Kassim (1 per cent), Hazel Katana (1 per cent) and Hissam Mwadu was at 1 per cent.

A total of 76 per cent of the residents of Mombasa county are not decided on who they will vote for as senator.

Asha Mohamed is leading the battle for the woman representative seat at 8 per cent followed by Zamzam Mohamed at 7 per cent and Amina Abdalla at 3 per cent.

Some 78 per cent are undecided.

In the battle for the Nairobi governor's seat senator, Johnson Sakaja is ahead of the pack having polled 23 per cent while Polycarp Igahe came second with 15 percent.

Igathe is the Azimio joint candidate for Nairobi's top seat while Sakaja is backed by Ruto's Kenya Kwanza.

Agnes Kagure and Anned Kananu polled 1 per cent each while 53 per cent were undecided.

In the Senate race, ODM's Edwin Sifuna is ahead with 19 per cent followed by Margaret Wanjiru with 6 per cent and Maina Kamanda at 1 per cent.

There are 73 per cent of voters who are undecided.

For the woman representative seat, Esther Passaris is leading with 27.8 per cent, Millicent Omanga with 6.2 per cent and Wangui Ng'ang'a at 1 per cent.

Some 63.3 per cent of the voters are undecided.

In Makueni county, Mutula Kilonzo is ahead with 50 per cent while Patrick Musimba is second with 5 per cent.

Rose Museo has 3 per cent while there are 24 per cent of undecided. Others polled 18 per cent.

For the Senate post, Daniel Maanzo is the most popular with 21 per cent followed by Governor Kivutha Kibwana at 11 per cent.

Patrick Mbau polled 4 per cent while there were 61 per cent of the undecided.

Woman Representative Rose Museo is leading the pack with 12 per cent followed by Adelina Mwau at 7 percent.

Wavinya Nzioka was at 4 per cent while some 69 per cent are undecided.
