Passenger dies in morning matatu accident

One person died and another was seriously injured early Thursday when a 14-seater matatu overturned along the Mbumbuni-Machakos road in Mbooni East.

"The driver and another person who we are yet to identify disappeared," sub-county police commander Ibrahim Muchuma said, confirming the incident.

The injured traveller was treated at Makueni Referral Hospital. Muchuma said the driver lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the road and overturned.

The accident victim's body is at Tawa hospital mortuary.
