Nairobi Expressway is experiencing service downtime affecting payment of toll fees, Umoja Expressways Company has said.

In a statement on Monday, the company said the technical hitch is temporary.

“We wish to inform motorists of a temporary system downtime on mobile money affecting payment of toll fees. Updates will be provided as soon as the issue is resolved,” the company said.

It said the technicalities were coming from the external mobile money service provider.

“For your convenience, please register for the ETC service at your nearest Toll Station or prepare cash in advance while using the MTC lane 

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused and are working closely with the external service provider to resolve the issue,” it said.

In the Nairobi Expressway rates, the least amount one pays to use the Expressway is Sh170.

The highest amount one pays to use the road is Sh500 compared to Sh360 previously. This price is for saloon cars.

The toll rates are set for future adjustments based on not just the prevailing exchange rate but also changes in the consumer price index (CPI).

The Sh88 billion expressway has 1o exits at Mlolongo, Standard Gauge Railway, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Eastern Bypass, Southern Bypass, Capital Centre, Haile Selassie Avenue, Museum Hill, and Westlands.
