Defence Cabinet Secretary Adan Duale has warned that his ministry will not condone drug trafficking and other contraband in all schools including KDF-sponsored learning institutions.

"While commissioning a new dormitory at Moi Forces Academy on Saturday, Duale stated that the ministry will work closely with local authorities and security agencies to expel offenders and eliminate such elements."

He emphasized that his ministry has a zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking and other contrabands in all KDF-sponsored schools.

“MFA is an institution that I hold dearly, and I am impressed by the school’s consistent academic performance since its establishment in 1979,” Duale said.

“We are proud that MFA continues to improve access, retention, and completion rates while upholding its motto of ‘Excellence Our Commitment’,” he added.

The new two-storey dormitory unveiled at the Moi Forces Academy in Nairobi aims to alleviate overcrowding and accommodate the increasing student population due to the government’s 100 per cent transition directive.

While expressing his joy at returning to his alma mater, Duale reiterated the Ministry of Defence’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of military personnel and their families.

“My ministry commits to construct another dormitory worth Sh8 million. In collaboration with the MFA Alumni Association, we will fulfill the institution’s request to purchase at least two school buses,” Duale said.

The CS further noted that the Ministry of Defence will advocate for funding for infrastructural development and the allocation of additional teachers to cater to the school’s 2,122 students, 409 of whom are KCSE candidates this year.

This, he said, will be done in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

In addition, the CS encouraged students to devote themselves to their studies and strive for excellence. Duale emphasized the ministry's dedication to restoring the institution's past prestige by excelling at both county and national levels."

His sentiments were echoed by the Vice Chief of Defence Forces (VCDF) Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi who maintained that discipline is key in promoting great performance in any set-up.

In his remarks, the Kenya Air Force Commander, Major General John Omenda, who is also the Patron of MFA reiterated his continued support for the institution saying that over the years, MFA has produced leading professionals in various sectors in Kenya and beyond.

Also present during the event was Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan, Base Commander at Moi Air Base (MAB) Brigadier Samuel Kipkorir who also chairs the MFA Board of Management.

The deputy County Commissioner (Kamukunji), Subcounty Director of Education, TSC Subcounty Director, other alumni, MFA Board Members and parents were also present.
