Court to give directions on request to fly fugitive Kang'ethe back to the US

The court will give directions on Director of Public Prosecution’s request to have fugitive Kevin Kangethe extradited to the US to face murder charges over girlfriend's killing.

Kang'ethe has been detained at Muthaiga police station for 30 days pending extradition proceedings.

Milimani Magistrate Zainab Abdul allowed the application by the state even as they conducted a further probe into the matter.

Ruto returns to Bungoma to inspect, and commission projects

President William Ruto returns to Bungoma County where he is expected to commission various government projects.

He will traverse the four sub-counties of Bungoma North, Webuye East and West and Bungoma South.

Ruto was in the county in October last year during which he open the county assembly building before holding inter-denominational prayers at the Bungoma Airstrip.

He also launched the county aggregated industrial park at Sang’alo in Kanduyi constituency and inspected construction works at Chepkurkur Technical Training Institute in Mt Elgon sub-county.

KDF to launch PSOs Fund

Kenya Defence Forces will launch the National Peace Support Operations (PSOs) Fund at Kahawa Garrison in Nairobi at 9.30 am.

The fund is geared towards enabling KDF to attain appropriate levels at the UN Peace Keeping capability. The launch will be presided over by Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.

Court to rule on petition seeking to allow inmates to attend funerals of relatives

The court will issue its verdict on the petition where prisoners want to be allowed to attend funeral ceremonies of close family members.

The petition was filed before the Milimani law court seeking orders to allow inmates to attend the funeral of their loved ones.

The petition has been filed by journalist Moses Dola who wants inmates and convicts permitted to attend funerals.

Dola who is serving his sentence says that he is aggrieved that there's no law allowing inmates and convicts to attend burials for their family members.

Former governor Lenolkulal Sh84m graft case proceeds

Hearing of Sh84 million corruption case against former Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal proceeds. Lenolkulal was charged in 2019 with abuse of office and conflict of interest leading to the alleged loss of sh 84million.

He has been accused of using his company Oryx Service Station to supply petrol and diesel to the county.

The charge sheet indicates Lenolkulal 'knowingly acquired direct private interests in contracts between Oryx and Samburu for the supply of fuel.

MPs to visit health facilities suspected to engage in NHIF fraud in Murang’a, Kirinyaga

National Assembly's Departmental Committee on Health continues with its fact-finding mission to probe suspected financial malpractice in health facilities within Murang'a and Kirinyaga counties.

MPs are looking into allegations of conspiracy and fraud between NHIF officials and private health facilities following revelations that some facilities had received monies through fictitious claims.

Governor Wavinya orders probe into alleged manhandling of MCA by county askaris

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti orders an immediate probe into the alleged mistreatment of MCAs by county askaris. Report to be handed over within seven days.

Some Machakos County Government inspectorate officers were on Wednesday arrested for allegedly attacking the MCA within court premises.

The arrested county staffers were directed to record statements at the Machakos police station DCI offices.
