The suspense of waiting for the court’s verdict will soon be over for the once-prominent figure in Kenyan media Jacque Maribe who was charged with the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

The High Court will this morning pronounce its judgement against Jacque Maribe and her ex-fiancee Joseph 'Jowie' Irungu. 

She is facing the charge alongside ‘Jowie’.

The state alleges the pair on the night of September 19, 2018, at an undetermined time at Lamuria Gardens Apartment on Kitale Lane in Kilimani in Nairobi, jointly with others not before the court, murdered Kimani. 

Ruto, Gachagua on day two tour of Meru County

President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua today embark on their second-day tour of Meru County, where they are expected to commission various development projects.

The delegation will be in Igembe Central, Igembe North and Igembe South after visiting Buuri, Tigania West and Tigania East on Thursday.,

Ruto will be hosted by Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza, Senator Kathuri Murungi, and Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, among other high-ranking government officials allied with UDA.

Nakhumicha to brief media on Social Health Insurance Fund

The Ministry of Health will hold a media briefing on the Social Health Insurance Fund by CS Susan Nakhumicha.

The government has announced plans to launch the new Social Health Insurance Fund in March.

On Thursday, Nakhumicha said all systems were in place to phase out the long-standing National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and transition Kenyans to SHIF.

She stated that her ministry was only awaiting approval for the Act's regulations, after which due process would be followed to ensure that the registration of individuals begins

Raila heads to Taita Taveta for ODM grassroots mobilisation.

ODM leader Raila Odinga will today be in Taita Taveta County for the grassroots recruitment drive.

The tour is part of a series of grassroots recruitment drives and consultative forums across the country as part of efforts to bolster its bases ahead of the 2027 elections.

The recruitment is a continuation of phase one of the exercise launched on November 11, 2023, to enhance the party's image ahead of the grassroots elections expected by the end of April.

Court of Appeal to deliver ruling on housing levy case. 

The Court of Appeal Judges Lydia Achode, John Mativo and Mwaniki Gachoka will today rule on whether to temporarily suspend the housing tax.

The Appellate court which presided over the hearing of an appeal filed by the Attorney General, KRA, Treasury and Parliament will decide whether to extend or abolish conservatory orders issued by the lower court on operationalisation of the housing tax.

Court to determine case challenging the deployment of Kenyan officers to Haiti

The High Court will today determine a case challenging the deployment of officers to Haiti.

Judge Chacha Mwita had on October 24 last year extended orders stopping the deployment of the officers to Haiti for a peacekeeping mission pending the determination of a case filed by Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot.

In the case, Aukot sued President William Ruto and his administration in a bid to block the peacekeeping mission that will see the deployment of at least 1,000 police officers to the gang-ridden nation.
