National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula has said he will improve healthcare facilities and infrastructure in his ward.

He spoke on Monday when he joined faithful at Mukhweya Parish Catholic Church in Bungoma.

"In the ward, I've pledged to enhance the healthcare facilities, infrastructure, and help build a regional referral hospital that extends beyond our residents to serve the entire region," Wetang'ula said.

The National Assembly speaker said the government has also pledged to avail subsidised fertiliser at the subcounty headquarters.

This, he said, is aimed at easing agricultural discomfort for farmers and to tackle challenges collectively.

"The government has pledged avail subsidised fertiliser at the subcounty headquarters to enable easy access by farmers for the sake of improving food production," he said.

Wetangula was accompanied by Bungoma Senator David Wakoli, area MCA Sam Mukhongo and his counterpart Ken Wanyama among other leaders.

Wetang'ula noted government's commitment to providing financial assistance for indigent individuals to ensure the most vulnerable members of society can access quality healthcare.

He noted that free treatment for chronic illnesses and accidents, including those involved in boda boda accidents, as a crucial aspect of healthcare accessibility following the enactment of the four health bills.

He also commended President Ruto's reduction of cost of fertiliser, which benefits farmers in the region and across the country.
