Amos Rono, the bridegroom from Bomet who suffered a devastating heartbreak after a planned wedding ceremony was cancelled has continued to find solace in friends and well-wishers.

A day after a travel and tours company-Bonfire adventures-stepped in and sponsored him with a four-day Coastal trip, Rono was on Wednesday a guest to Kericho Governor Erick Mutai.

In a post on his official social media pages, Mutai shared photos while having a “man-to-man talk” with him at his office.

“Following the unexpected turn of events for Amos ahead of his big day, I extended an invite to the gentleman for a,” said Mutai.

The county boss went on to state that after the meeting he left him with a word of God.

“Besides the support that I extended to my brother, I left him with the word of God in the book of Psalms 34: 18 which reads: 'The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit',” he added.

He is set for a four-day coastal trip courtesy of Bonfire Adventures.

“We have given him a four-day package to the coast. The package is inclusive of a flight, meals will be all-inclusive, including lunch, breakfast, dinner with an unlimited flow of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic,” the company's head of marketing Anthony Maingi said Tuesday.

Rono made headlines last week after reports emerged that a planned wedding ceremony at Kapsoiya home in Bomet Central had been called off.

In an interview on Saturday at her Kapletundo home, the would-be bride Nelly Chepkoech clarified the marriage permit is still valid until February.

“The presiding reverend advised us to push forward the wedding to a later date but not to cancel it completely as alleged by most of the people,” Chepkoech said.

Her father Rev Charles Kosgey, who is a pastor at Chebirbelek AGC in Sotik, said he was called by the area director of the Tenwek region and informed that the wedding had been postponed because the two lovers had only known each other for six months

“The two young people needed to have undergone guidance and counselling on marriage during the courtship period before tying the knot,” said Kosgey.

Rono has since broken his silence and affirmed that he has decided to let her go after it emerged that she is currently dating another man.

He told journalists at his home that everything went on as planned until that last day when the lady wrote to the pastor that she was not ready for the wedding.

“We have been preparing well until Thursday when she sent the message to the church leadership that the wedding will not continue and all this time she has not revealed to me that he has another guy somewhere,” he said.
