How CSs have been allocated tree growing sites

President William Ruto-led Cabinet secretaries will lead other county leaders in different sites

President William Ruto-led Cabinet secretaries will on November 13, 2023, lead other county leaders in different sites during the National Tree Growing Day. 

Each Cabinet Secretary has been tasked with adopting at least two counties and providing leadership in the initiative, as the government seeks to meet the campaign target for the day of 100 million seedlings.

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi will lead other stakeholders in the tree-growing exercise in Tharaka Nithi County in Karaini and Kirinyaga County at Thiba Dam. 

Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen will be in Mombasa County at Gana-Hola and Homa Bay County at Gera Catchment. 

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki will be in five counties for the exercise on Monday. 

The counties are Garissa (Garissa University), Wajir (Airbase office), Mandera (KMTC Mandera), Marsabit(Hulahula FS), and Turkana (Ekalees Cultural Centre)

Mining and Blue Economy CS Salim Mvurya has been allocated to Tana River and Lamu counties. 

In Tana River, Mvurya will be at the Katsangani Mangrove Swamp, while in Lamu, the CS will lead the exercise in Mambo Sasa.

Aisha Jumwa, the CS for Gender, Culture, Arts, and Heritage has been posted in Kwale and Kakamega counties. 

In Kakamega, Jumwa will be joined by other stakeholders in Shinyende and Kaya Longuma Matuga in Kwale County.  

Sports CS Ababu Namwamba will be in Kilifi County at the KIlifi Creek and Bungoma County in Banandega.

Alfred Mutua, who leads the Tourism docket will be in Taita Taveta and Kitui counties.

In Isiolo County, Defence Minister Aden Duale will lead the tree-growing exercise at Waso Primary School, and Nakuru at the Enapuiyapui. 

CS for East African Community, the ASALs, and Regional Peninah Malonza in Meru at the Kithoka Ruiri beat and Busia county in Ekesegere Primary School. 

For the tree-growing exercise in Embu County, Trade CS Rebecca Miano is expected to lead in Maranga Hill. 

Miano will also be in Narok County at the Chebitet Beat. 

Treasury CS Njuguna Ndungu will be in Machakos and Nyandarua counties.

For Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi, will be expected in Makueni and Samburu counties. 

In Samburu, Linturi will lead the exercise at the Tamiyoi block and Makongo beat in Makueni county. 

Lands CS Alice Wahome will plant tree seedlings in Nyeri and Laikipia counties. 

The exercise will take place in compartment 12 in Nyeri and Rumuruti Forest Block in Laikipia.
